Experience farm life first-hand at one of our one-day Goat Milk Soap & Cheese Making Classes.
Do you love to learn new things? Join us on our small farm and learn the homesteading skills of cheese and soap making. This one-day course will teach you the basics of making goat milk soap, from teat to bar. We will also dive into the world of cheese making, covering basic recipes for ricotta, chevre and feta - all made from goat milk directly from our farm!
No experience is necessary - this course is for everyone. We will cover equipment, tips & tricks, recipes and of course some freshly-made cheese to sample. You’ll also get to meet our small herd of rare-breed Guernsey goats. We may be biased, but we think they’re a beautiful bunch!
This one-day course includes instruction in cheese making in the morning and soap making in the afternoon. In between you’ll enjoy a locally-sourced lunch which includes farm-fresh ingredients (think delicious goat milk cheese, for starters!). Every attendee will leave with our Goat School Soap and Cheese Making Manual.
The morning session will include instruction on three great goat milk cheeses:
- Ricotta (which is absolutely amazing to eat fresh and warm right from the bowl!)
- Chevre (the best-known of the fresh goat cheeses, and so versatile you can use it in place of cream cheese to give recipes more flavor)
- Feta (keeps well and tastes great in salads and quiches)
The afternoon session will tackle how to make goat milk soap. It can be tricky to get everything just right, but we’ll learn master tips directly from Joy, who has perfected her technique over the course of thousands of bars. The result is a creamy, luxurious, lightly-scented soap which we think is totally worth the effort!
